One year ago....

One year ago today I started my day with a trip to the hairdresser. When I got home there was a brunch on mascarpone cheese, strawberries and croissants, as well as a glass or two of bubbly. Next I had my makeup done. There was the hustle and bustle of others getting ready around me. A photographer arrived and set up a portable studio in the apartment my parents had rented for the event. Finally everyone was ready, the kids were behaving and the time was getting closer. We all left together in a stretch limo, my dad, the kids, the girls and myself. I was getting excited. We arrived at the venue. It was raining, only days before the floods hit. I had to wait as one by one the driver escorted the girls and kids to the door. There was no garden, it was too wet, but on the large verandah they set up a beautiful space. A friend was playing the guitar and singing "Just the way you are". David didn't turn around, he didn't know he was allowed to watch me walk towards him, but the look on his face when I got to his side was enough to convince me that I had made the right choice in choosing him for my husband. We said our vows that day, exactly one year ago. I married my best friend in a simple and quick ceremony. It was exactly what I wanted, simple ceremony with a party for everyone to celebrate with us. This year has been hard in that we moved far away from everything and everyone we knew. We started new jobs, and had to work out this "married life" thing on our own. Everything else has been easy. We love each other, we don't fight, we are on the same crazy wavelength. Happy anniversary to my wonderful husband. It has been amazing sharing my life with you this year and I can't wait for what the future may bring. I am excited for the rest of our lives, and can't wait to grow old with you my love, my heart, my best friend.
